No News Is Not Good News

It occurs to me that when it comes to querying, the old adage "No news is good news" does not apply. I got nothing but no news lately. Bleh.

I've got nothing else to talk about, really. Isn't that sad? Even our father-and-daughter Girl Scout cookie site sale the other night was awful -- two hours in the rainy cold, sold maybe ten boxes. Still waiting for 2010 to turn it all around.

Good thing Amber is celebrating her birthday. She looks so young and pretty.

  1. I know the feeling of being wordless all too well!

  2. Just occurred to me that your stats for a first book are damn good- 6 partials and 5 fulls. Even with no offer, that's a great starting point for the your next book.

  3. Don't feel bad Trav, I've gotten nothing but bad news all week and it's only Tuesday! A full I've had out for the better part of two months was rejected (even though I received really good news about it) and I didn't make it into round two on Amazon's Breathrough Novel Contest AND my page to fame on WEbook bombed too.

At least I still have my good looks and great friends!

  6. El Tee Cee - Yes, I did. But I've stopped celebrating them.

  7. I feel the same way. (Bleh.) Thinking maybe it's the weather. Is it rainy there too? Sending good vibes your way regarding that last partial.

  9. Wait, you got another partial request? Just saw that. That's aweome - congrats. Don't stop celebrating them. Every request is a big potential!

  10. You shouldn't stop celebrating them! They are a necessary (though not sufficient) step.

  11. Trav ~ It's FML not FYL. What are you so down? And TEN boxes, that's pathetic! Girl scout cookies are gold! Who are these imbeciles that you are trying to sell to?

  12. I agree. Partial requests do not make you feel good. They're too tepid. Also, more often than not, they are followed up by emails that feature the words "pass" and "best of luck" and "elsewhere."

  13. Well, at least you have two requests out there still. Better than nothing, right?
